Then I went back inside to continue my writing…

One thing I had learned from hospital was that I’ve put on weight – now, that pleased the nutritionist and delighted my Doctor. As for me, I’m just glad they make those Ensure Compact drinks in Vanilla and also - I like Banana & Blueberry milkshakes!

Anyway…

After doing housework I decided to make dad and I a drink. On the way through the livingroom when dad had had looked out the front window and quipped, ‘miserable day’… to which I’d replied, “It’s as miserable as you make it.” It had been on my return from the doctor’s when I’d picked up a prescription, to take to the chemist and, my both my knees ached – I’d had to remind myself of what I’d said to my Father…

Talking of going out and about… I got home from medical stuff and shopping, to find that my Dad had removed a stand of my favourite leaf-type flowering plants out, with my knowledge. Needless to say, I’d freaked…

It hadn’t been that he’d taken them out, as I knew he dislikes them – it had been the fact that he did it without my knowledge, while I was out. That’d been sneaky. Then again, he got me a second time: he was going to send Ian a cheque to help with the costs of the funeral and mentioned how much. I’d named a lesser figure and, he’d compromised. The card had been made out and been sent, with said cheque inside. It was as I had posted it that I’d realised I might just have been stitched up there, ‘coz the way it stands, I’m the one who ended up encouraging Dad to send the coin.

And talking of Ian – he turned up, on his way down to London, where his wife’s funeral was to take place.

I spent Friday waiting up for him, as I’d given him my keys, so he could go out to see friends living locally – and ensure that the backdoor was locked after him, as my Dad wanted.

Well, Ian had got in after a [much needed] night out; then on Sunday, he went to see Liverpool play, in their ‘new’ ground. It is something that his wife, another rabid football supporter would have thoroughly approved of…

He came in earlier than I’d expected, as I was writing; after going outside to watch the stars. It had been quite a spiritual moment, standing there in the back garden, looking up at the night sky and, the bright pinpricks of light, scattering the cloak of darkness.

As I’d looked up, I could see constellations I recalled from my interest, when younger – and, one stood out clearly, The Dipper.

I’d looked up, feeling very small, yet very in tune with everything, for just a moment.

Then I went back inside to continue my writing…
